What sets Olompali State Historic Park apart from other California State Parks is the recreated Coastal Miwok Village, complete with a native plant garden and traditional Miwok housing. It’s also home to the Burdell Mansion, former ranch buildings, and adobe ruins. The highlight of the park is a loop trail just over 3 miles long. The mostly shaded trail offers stunning views overlooking the Petaluma River and San Pablo Bay. For the most adventurous hikers, the trail can be extended over to Mount Burdell for an 8-mile loop.
Olompali State Historic Park is located just 3 miles north of Novato and in addition to hiking, offers shaded picnic areas and is open to horseback riders.
