Angel Island is the largest island in the San Francisco Bay and is a great destination for a family day out.
Angel Island was originally home to local native tribes and later became a supply stop for Spanish explorers. From 1910 to 1940 it was a US immigration station and is now home to a museum.
One of the most popular Bay Area attractions, Angel Island can be reached via a short ferry journey from San Francisco or Tiburon (about 20 miles south of Novato) and offers great views of the bay. Bikes are available to hire and you can take a tram tour around the island. There is a cafe which holds live music events during the summer months.
