Historic Pioneer Park Novato is a popular, family-friendly destination located one mile west of downtown. The nine-acre, tree-lined grounds include paved walking paths, a large renovated children’s playground area with an updated play structure, picnic tables, a covered BBQ area, and plenty of open lawn for throwing frisbees or a lively game of catch.
The park was named for the oldest cemetery in the city which rests on the adjacent hill, and where many of Novato’s founding pioneer residents are buried.
Four well-maintained public tennis courts provide a popular, sheltered place to play on a first-come first-served basis. Courts may be reserved for groups, tournaments, or private lessons by calling 415-899-8977. Reservation schedule is posted court side. Night lighting allows evening play until 10:00pm.
Pioneer Park is also available for group rentals through the Novato Parks & Recreation Office at 415-899-8977, making it an ideal place for family reunions, picnics, and company events.
In the summer months, bring your pillows and blankets along to snuggle up on the grass for free Movie In The Park nights.
