Located 20 miles south of Novato at the base of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay Area Discovery Museum provides a variety of activities and family fun. The museum is designed to ignite creative thinking in children ages 6-months to 8-years. The sprawling hands-on museum covers 7.5 acres of beautiful Marin terrain.
Your littlest ones will enjoy the Tot Spot where they can get their hands wet in an outdoor stream complete with fish and boats or they can wander indoors to explore animal habitats and scale mini mountains. Kids of all ages will want to spend hours at Lookout Cove building bridges, becoming a ship’s captain, transitioning into a spider and so much more while they explore 2.5 acres of outdoor exhibitions.
Indoors there’s everything from art studios where your kids can paint a masterpiece on one of the art walls, to the Wave Workshop where kids construct boats and test them out in wind and waves. Bay Hall gives your child the opportunity to become a crab fisherman at Fisherman’s Wharf or a port worker at a simulation of the Port of Oakland while Discovery Hall houses a rotating selection of the best hands-on exhibitions. Don’t miss the daily nature walks and storytime too!
