Sacred places in nature to experience the mysteries beyond the veil…
Anyone who lives close to the Earth will know of sites in the natural landscape that seem to stand apart as distinct from the surroundings. These places are sometimes described by mystics and shamans as ‘nodes’ or ‘vortexes’ where natural powers manifest in with exceptional potency. They are also sometimes thought to be sites where spirits and deities dwell or have dwelt in times past, or where saints and heroes have either lived or died or performed feats and miracles. Whatever the explanation, such locations supply opportunities to encounter the more mysterious dimensions of reality.
These photographs of sacred places are glimpses of such realms and the beings within them. Through them, I have striven to capture moments in space and time where the realms are just beginning to lift their veils. My hope is that viewers may see what I have seen by looking closely to find the hidden realms within.
Animism is the belief that everything has a spirit and a consciousness, a soul, from the tiniest microorganism on earth to the great planets in the heavens to the whole of the universe itself.
“There is no environment ‘out there’ separate from us. The environment is embedded in us. We are as much a part of our surroundings as as the trees and birds and fish, the sky, water and rocks.” ~ David Suzuki

My early childhood was in a small village, Swaffham Prior, England. It is there that I forged the notion of sacred sites and the shores of Avalon. It is only in recent years that I have sailed there directly, to the twinkling of small silver bells that guide me.
