Snow in Novato?! Yep!

Saturday, December 13

On December 13th, 2014, the Downtown Novato Business Association is throwing a winter holiday extravaganza. The event, called Let it Snow, Novato, will turn our downtown into a snowy, winter wonderland!

Children galore will play (some for the first time ever) in snow which is being shipped and delivered to Novato’s City Hall. Sleds and all other festivities will be provided free of charge. Mr. and Mrs. Clause will arrive by fire truck at 11:30 a.m. and kids will be able to get their pictures taken with the jolly pair. There will be free candy canes and balloons. Children will also be able to enter a coloring contest and get their faces painted. Scout Troop 42 will be selling luminarias and hot chocolate will be served to warm cold hands after ample snowballs have been thrown.

Music will fill the streets with the San Marin Jazz Choir performing at 11:30 a.m. and the Chime Travelers singing holiday songs, as well as other favorite tunes. Luv 2 Dance will perform to Let it Snow. And a special treat, Reckless in Vegas will perform for the first time in Novato from 2:30 to 5 p.m. The band has a star-filled line up including: Novatan Mario Cipollina on bass (well known former member of Huey Lewis and the News); lead singer Michael Shapiro on guitar; and Dr. Fu on drums. Reckless in Vegas, who are best described as the Rat Pack meets Green Day, will feature songs from the ‘60s with tunes from Sonny & Cher, Neil Diamond, Elvis Presley and more. They will sing a Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin version of Let it Snow.

Once the festivities have come to an end, horse drawn carriage rides, with Curly the Belgian draft horse in the lead, will be offered free of charge from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. As riders stroll down Grant Avenue they can view and pick their favorite holiday window display. Local downtown merchants will be decorating their windows with a snowy theme this year.
