2016 National Dog Day

Friday, August 26, 2016

August 26th is National Dog Day – the official time to celebrate all the great things dogs do for us. Although we know you shower your pup with love all day every day, what a perfect time to give your best friend a little something extra.

Novato has many dog-friendly destinations where you can fuel up for an active day (or simply start a relaxing day together). You can grab a coffee in the morning with you dog at Dr. Insomniac’s or Peet’s Coffee & Tea. Both establishments warmly welcome your furry friends with open arms and may even offer them a treat of their own!  Then set out to Novato’s own Dogbone Meadow. There, as the name implies, North Bay dogs enjoy off-leash play, and the chance to socialize with other dogs.

There are also plenty of dog friendly hikes in Novato. Experience the openness of Mount Burdell, wander through the hills of Indian Valley, or explore Deer Island. All trails are sure to make your pup happy that day.

If you don’t consider yourself a morning person, other restaurants like Grazie, HopMonk Tavern and Moylan’s Brewery have outdoor patios where dogs are welcome to join you while you dine.  Want to make a weekend of it, and enjoy all that quality time with your pet? Consider staying for a night or two in Novato at Inn Marin or the Days Inn. Both allow dogs for a small extra charge.

This event has ended.
