The Sustainable Sports Foundation promotes local athletic events that support the values of sustainability. Over 2000 runners, spectators and volunteers are expected to take part in their Triathlon Weekend, which offers a range of race options, including individual and relay triathlons and duathlons in both “sprint” and “Olympic” classes, along with kids’ individual and relay triathlons.
For the uninitiated, triathlons combine running, cycling and swimming, while a duathlon features running and cycling. Training for either event is a great way to get into shape, and the Sports Foundation have training partners who can help both kids and adults with training programs.
This weekend of exciting endurance athletics takes place at McNears Beach County park in nearby San Rafael. If you’re interested in making a weekend of it, and taking in some of the best that Marin has to offer, consider a stay in Novato, where competitors and their families are guaranteed a warm welcome.
