Please join the City of Novato and event partners Sustainable Novato, ExtraFood, and Recology as we present the second film in our 2018 Green Film Series – Just Eat It: A Food Waste Story.
Just Eat It follows filmmakers and food lovers Jen and Grant as they dive into the issue of waste from farm, through retail, all the way to the back of their own fridge.
Featuring interviews with TED lecturer, author and activist Tristram Stuart and acclaimed author Jonathan Bloom, Just Eat It looks at our systemic obsession with expiry dates, perfect produce and portion sizes, and reveals the core of this seemingly insignificant issue that is having devastating consequences around the globe. Just Eat It brings farmers, retailers, inspiring organizations, and consumers to the table in a cinematic story that is equal parts education and delicious entertainment.
A panel discussion will follow the film featuring local food waste prevention, recovery and composting experts Miguel Villarreal, Novato Unified School District Food and Nutrition Services Director; Marv Zauderer, ExtraFood Executive Director; and Garen Kazanjian, Recology Zero Waste Specialist
The event is free to attend but pre-registration is requested: www.justeatitnovato.eventbrite.com. Doors open at 6pm and the screening will start at 6:30pm.
