Fresh Starts Chef Events: Chef Tanya Holland & Author Anita Gail Jones

Tuesday, October 24, 2023

Chef Tanya Holland and author Anita Gail Jones celebrate National Book Month with soul food and stories, including recipe demonstrations from the chef’s award-winning “California Soul” cookbook published last year. Menu details coming soon!

The evening includes readings from the Novato author’s new novel, “The Peach Seed,” that chronicles a family saga of love and challenge while carrying readers across decades of Black history.

Chef Tanya won early acclaim with Brown Sugar Kitchen, the now-closed Oakland restaurant that inspired a 2014 cookbook. She has appeared on Bravo TV’s “Top Chef,” created a podcast and been named to the James Beard Foundation’s Board of Directors.

Born and raised in Albany, Georgia, Anita Gail Jones maintains a strong connection with the region that became the setting for her novel. Besides writing, she has worked as artist-in-residence in Bay Area schools and illustrated children’s books.

Your reservation includes a book – choose from “California Soul” or “The Peach Seed.” Get a personal autograph!
