This solo exhibit at Marin MOCA is by Bay Area figurative artist, Elmer Bischoff (1916-1991). Bischoff’s work includes paintings and drawings that are known for being overly expressive, abstract and part of the Bay Area movement towards image-making. Bischoff later became one of the founders of the Bay Area Figurative School in the late 1950’s and one of the Bay Area’s 20th century art legends.
This exhibit was co-produced and curated by George Adams and includes many works from the Bischoff Estate as well as loans from private collectors.
Due to the shelter-in-place order, if you would like to explore the exhibit now you may take a virtual tour from the comfort of your home.
