Novato Speaker Series: Felecia Gaston

As the founder and director of Performing Stars of Marin and The Marin City Historical and Preservation Society, Felecia Gaston delves into the historical narrative of Marin City. Gaston’s writings explore significant events, including the establishment of temporary homes by the Marin Housing Authority in 1942, the community’s inception, encounters with outside developers, and the unsettling incident of the Ku Klux Klan’s cross burning in Marin City.

Gaston also provides insights into pivotal moments such as the Marin Civic Center’s proposals for the future of Marin City’s land in 1952. The narrative unfolds with the contributions of key individuals like Supervisor Vera Schultz, Mary Summers, Aaron Green, Lawrence Livingston, Jr., Lawrence Halprin, and John Carl Warnecke, who played instrumental roles in planning and shaping the trajectory of Marin City.

The Monthly Novato Speaker Series, held at the Bill and Adele Jonas Center in Novato, is an ongoing program that brings together a diverse range of speakers from various fields and backgrounds to share their knowledge, experiences, and perspectives with the community.
