The Annual Marin Greek Festival will take place over Memorial Day Weekend.
Staged at the spectacular hilltop complex of the Nativity of Christ Greek Orthodox Church in the Ignacio Hills of Novato, the Festival offers a sensory banquet for the entire family. Annually 5,000 festival-goers come to eat, drink, dance, visit, shop, browse, or just relax and have fun both indoors and outdoors.
On Friday Evening, May 24, 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM there will be a Glendi (Glendi is the Greek word for “party”) where you can dance to the music of Kymata Greek band. Enjoy a gyro, calamari, Greek fries, tiropita, spanakopita, a Greek Frappe and dozens of Traditional Greek pastries. On Saturday, May 25 the hours are 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and Sunday, May 26, the hours are 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM.
The Festival is renowned for its delicious Greek food and pastries prepared with recipes handed down from generation to generation. The bouzouki beat of Kymata Greek band accompanies Greek line dancing each day of the Festival. The award-winning Minoan Dancers will perform daily and will also provide Greek dance lessons each afternoon.
Greek import booths and delicatessen will offer specialty items. Byzantine Chanting and tours of the Church are a part of the schedule as well as activities for children. Listen to renowned speakers and learn about Greek history, music dance and faith. Greek cooking demonstrations will take place daily.There will be continuous shuttle busing from 5 pm Friday through Sunday evening. The Shuttle Parking Lot is at Pell Plaza 500 Redwood Boulevard Accessible parking will be available at the Festival site, 1110 Highland Drive in Novato. Signs near the Ignacio Boulevard off-ramp of Highway 101 will guide drivers to the easily accessed parking lots. Admission on Saturday and Sunday is $5 for adults, $4 for Seniors 55+ and Free Admission for children 12 and under.
