After working across the country as a line cook, Kate earned a degree in journalism and began writing. Her first book, “A16 Food + Wine,” won the Book of the Year Award from the International Association of Culinary Professionals and the Julia Child First Book award. She and Shelley Lindgren, founder of San Francisco’s A16 restaurant, later co-wrote “Italian Wine.”
